World Book Day

Happy World Book Day! Dressed in their pyjamas, the children are enjoying sharing their books today. We have some wonderful cakes to celebrate the day too – they will be cut up and on sale at 3.15 this afternoon.

We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Big Read at 2.55pm today! Please enter the gates onto the playground by Year 1 and 2.

Investigating…

This afternoon, Year 1 had a very interesting science lesson. We talked about what animals eat and how we can group them into herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. We talked about how if we looked at the poo of different animals, we might be to see what they eat. That is exactly what some archaeologists do to help us understand what people ate in the past. We investigated ‘pretend poo’, which helped us to decide if it had been left by a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore.

Christmas Parties

Yesterday, the children enjoyed their class Christmas parties. They played games in the hall, decorated their tables and enjoyed their party food. Father Christmas even found time to pop in and give each child a book for Christmas.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas

The whole school took part in watching the live book read this morning and were treated to the book ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’ which was read by Father Christmas himself! Over a thousand schools had joined in the festive fun which was followed by a live quiz.

Year 1 to the rescue!

This morning, the children came into the classroom to find they’d had a visit from ‘The Evil Pea’. He had caught all of Supertato’s vegetable friends and tied them up! Supertato was away on holiday so Year 1 were keen to help. They created their own Supertato characters, gave theme superpowers and helped to free the vegetables. They wrote some amazing sentences about their characters!

What a mess!

Year 1 had a shock when they came into their classroom yesterday! Someone had dumped all of their rubbish everywhere! As a team, the children quickly decided that something needed to be done. They sorted the rubbish and re-used as much as they could to create something new. The children worked very hard and were proud that they had done something to help their planet.

Children in Need

The children had a great time raising money for Children in Need on Friday. Everyone took part in the Joe Wicks workout in the morning – the staff found it more of a challenge than the children! In the afternoon, our ‘bring-and-buy’ sale was a bit hit. Thank you all for supporting Children in Need.

Cannon Park Superheroes

Year 1 have had an amazing time evaluating their superhero capes today! They investigated different ways they could attach the ribbon to their capes so they could wear them. They showed all the school values, especially enjoyment.

Odd Socks Day

Everyone was sporting odd socks as part of Anti-Bullying Week today. Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!

Superheroes

Year 1 had an amazing wow day to launch our superhero topic. We made super tasty porridge fingers, designed our own superhero capes and learnt how real life heroes help us too.  We showed all of our school values, especially ‘enjoyment’!
