To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, every child has created a commemorative plate. Six finalists have been selected from each class to be on display at Cannon Park Shopping Centre. Please do go to the shops and have a look at the fantastic display. One winner from each class has been selected and their plate has been made into a real plate – winners will be announced during Friday’s assembly.
Reception celebrated Chinese New Year by cleaning the classroom, making cards and dragons and even cooking Chinese food!
To celebrate Chinese New Year, all children have been writing about tigers and creating a piece of matching artwork. Two finalists were selected from each class to have their learning displayed at Cannon Park Shopping Centre.
Today, the children walked up to the shops to see their writing and art on display. There were many proud faces as the children pointed out their learning. These 14 finalists will enjoy an afternoon of art with a local artist later in the term.
This week the children in Reception have been learning all about tigers! They all did some tiger artwork including  sketching, paper plate craft  and shape tracing. The children also set up a tiger tea party and loved experimenting with different types of tea bags , designing invitations and even enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate!
Muddy wellies and searching for worms – it’s just a usual lesson in Year 1.
When reading the story Super Worm, it’s only right that we create our own worm world. We went on a very exciting hunt for worms on the field. The children (and Miss French) were overly excited to start digging and grab some worms. Not only did we find lots of wriggly worms, but we also brought them back into the classroom to build our very own worm world. The children worked together to layer soil, sand and of course some food for the worms in the tank.
Year 1 are so excited to check on our new classmates daily and see how they have burrowed through the soil.
Did the excitement stop there? Absolutely not! Each child used their artistic skills to design their very own super worm out of clay, which was then transformed with colourful paints and glitter, because of course Super Worm is no ordinary worm. Year 1 are eager to start some fabulous writing about their worms next week.

We’re pleased to announce that the finalists from the City of Culture writing and art competition, led by Cannon Park Shopping Centre, are on display outside Wilko and Iceland at Cannon Park Shopping Centre. Well done to the finalists – please do pop down and take a look at your amazing writing and artwork.

Year 5 have had a wonderfully creative afternoon learning about orangutans and why it is important to protect the rainforests, before painting along with artist and founder of the environmental art project Last Chance To Paint, John Dyer.

Year 1 have been busy using their artistic skills to create a calendar in the style of ‘Wassily Kandinsky’. They used a range of colours to show different emotions. Well done Year 1!
