Rainbows

Good morning Cannon Park!

I hope you’re all safe and well. Today is the first day of a very different routine for many of you but I know you will all continue to demonstrate our school values wherever you are this morning.

Each day, I will posting an activity on the website – an activity that many of you will be able to join in with. I will also add useful websites to further your learning. If you join in with the activity, please feel free to send in a photo to our new website email address website@cannonpark.coventry.sch.uk  and I’ll add some to the website.

For the first activity, I thought we’d start with one about hope and positivity. With social distancing and lots of places including many school closing, children are connecting with each other by painting colourful rainbows and putting them in their windows for others to see. Today, why not create your own rainbow and stick it in your window. You might want to use felt tips or paint or even do a collage.

We may not all be in the building but we are still all one school.

Easter Bonets

Thank you for all of the wonderful Easter bonnets; they were beautiful. Here are the winning bonnets, which will be in Hobbycraft (Central Six) next week. The winning bonnets were made by: Cohen, Trinity, Joel, Isaac and Gabby. Please vote for your favourites in store.

Art in the sun

As part of Science linked with Art, Year 6 looked at how light travels and casts a shadow. We took advantage of the sun and went outside to create some great sketches of objects with their individual shadows. A great start to your first day back after the holidays, Year 6.

Colour Theory

Year 6 were Artists this afternoon, discovering the theory of colours in particular looking at warm and cold colours. They created their own portraits and used oil pastels to highlight the difference between the colours. Well done Year 6 for showing great enthusiasm for art and producing some fantastic pieces of work!

Remembrance Day

Year 6 started their afternoon throwing paper balls around the room before being stopped and told that each paper ball represented one millions lives lost in war. We talked about the significance of the poppy before creating our own Remembrance Day pieces of artwork.

Mod Rock Monsters

In Year 1 we have had an exciting afternoon using Mod Rock to transform our model monsters into sculptures. The children can’t wait to see their monsters once they are dry!

Diwali

Year 1 learnt all about Diwali today. We talked about the festival of light and why diva lamps are lit. We had great fun using our creative skills to make our own diva lamps and we are looking forward to decorating them later in the week when the clay has dried.

Outdoor Adventures

Year 6 got into the spirit of Outdoor Learning Day by working in teams to create natural pieces of artwork.

Outdoor Art

For Outdoor Learning Day, Year 3 have been collecting natural resources on our school field and then, taking inspiration from the artist Andy Goldsworthy, have created their own pieces of outdoor art.

Natural Art

Year 2 were inspired by the art work of Andy Goldsworthy. The children went out into the school grounds to find natural materials to use in their work. They collected lots of leaves, twigs, seeds and stones. They then worked together as a team to make natural art. What do you think?
