Demonstrating Our Values

Well done to the children, who have been recognised for demonstrating our values this week. Discipline was a popular value this week.

Yesterday saw many children enjoying the Autumn weather learning outdoors; today looks like it’ll be just as bright!

Phonics

Year 2 have been outside today learning our common exception words. The children have loved using chalk to help them learn the words.

Outdoor Adventures

Year 6 got into the spirit of Outdoor Learning Day by working in teams to create natural pieces of artwork.

Outdoor Art

For Outdoor Learning Day, Year 3 have been collecting natural resources on our school field and then, taking inspiration from the artist Andy Goldsworthy, have created their own pieces of outdoor art.

Natural Art

Year 2 were inspired by the art work of Andy Goldsworthy. The children went out into the school grounds to find natural materials to use in their work. They collected lots of leaves, twigs, seeds and stones. They then worked together as a team to make natural art. What do you think?

Symmetry

As part of Outdoor Learning Day, Year 4 had great fun practising their estimation skills in preparation for next week. Following this, they made symmetrical pictures using natural resources.

Word Class

Today, Year 5 have been developing their understanding of word classes. They worked in teams to group different words into nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, propositions and determiners before building sentences using words from the different classes.

Mood Music

This afternoon, Year 3 worked in groups to create an composition inspired by the weather. They discussed what feelings can be represented by different types of weather and create sounds to match each mood.

School Librarian of the Year

This week, Miss Cleveland, Mrs MacDonald and Mrs Whetstone travelled to London for the finals of the School Librarian of the Year competition. As the only primary school included in the finals, Cannon Park made quite an impression thanks to the efforts of Miss Cleveland the four children, who joined the staff for the day.
